How a 7 team round robin schedule works
Each of the 7 teams plays the other 6 once: 7 × 6 ÷ 2 = 21 games. With an odd number of teams one team sits out each round, so there are 7 rounds of 3 games and every team has exactly one bye.
The schedule uses the circle method: seed 1 stays in place and the other teams rotate one position each round, with an empty "bye" position making the count even. That pairs every team with every other team exactly once and never asks a team to play twice in a round.
With 3 courts or fields, every game in a round can be played at once, so the whole event takes 7 time slots, about 3.5 hours with 30-minute games. With one court it is 21 games back to back, about 10.5 hours.
