What this site is
A free bracket maker that runs entirely in your browser. Single and double elimination, round robin and Swiss, for 3 to 128 teams, with seeding, byes, scoring, standings, printing and sharing. There are no accounts, no paywall and no watermark. Your tournaments are saved on your own device, and nothing you type is sent to us.
Who builds and checks it
Easy Bracket Maker is built and maintained by Taro Schenker, a software developer and web publisher who writes the bracket engine, the format guides and every page on this site (LinkedIn, taroschenker.com). It is published by Known by One, LLC, a Delaware company, 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, Delaware 19713, United States.
Why the brackets are correct
Bracket templates copied from blog to blog drift: a bye lands on the wrong seed, a lower-bracket route sends a team into a rematch, a 6-team double elimination ends up with the wrong number of games. The brackets here are not drawn by hand. Every size page is generated from the same engine that runs the app, and that engine has an automated test suite covering seeding order, bye placement, lower-bracket routing, grand-final resets, round robin rotation, Swiss pairing and the game count of every printable bracket from 2 to 64 teams. The counts shown on each page (games, rounds, byes) come from that engine and match the standard formulas, so they can be checked against any rulebook.
What it is honest about
- Tournaments are saved in one browser on one device. There is no account or cloud sync; export a JSON backup to move a tournament or keep a copy.
- Share links are snapshots. They show the bracket as it was when the link was made, so send a new link after entering scores.
- Players cannot report their own results or check themselves in. Check-in and live status are set by the organiser.
- Swiss pairings use a general-purpose system, not a FIDE-certified Dutch system.
- There is no third-place game in single elimination and no double round robin yet.
- The 48 and 64 team single elimination brackets print across two pages.
- Time estimates on the format pages assume 30-minute games and say so.
Accessibility
The app aims to meet WCAG 2.1 AA. Controls are labelled, dialogs are native and manage focus, the bracket can be scrolled with the keyboard, animation follows your reduced-motion setting, and the test suite runs automated accessibility checks (axe) on the main screens. If something does not work with your keyboard or screen reader, tell us.
Open-source parts
The app is built with React, lz-string (which compresses share links into the URL), Lucide icons and the open fonts DM Sans and Barlow Condensed. Everything is served from this site: no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers load. License notices are on the licenses page.
Corrections
If a bracket, count or explanation is wrong, tell us on the contact page with the format and number of teams. Fixes go into the engine, which regenerates every page, and the "last reviewed" date on the format pages changes when they are checked again.
How the site is funded
It is free to use. There are currently no ads and no analytics. If that changes, the privacy policy will say so before it happens.
