How a 12 team round robin schedule works

Each of the 12 teams plays the other 11 once: 12 × 11 ÷ 2 = 66 games. They fit into 11 rounds of 6 games, with every team playing once per round.

The schedule uses the circle method: seed 1 stays in place and the other teams rotate one position each round. That pairs every team with every other team exactly once and never asks a team to play twice in a round.

With 6 courts or fields, every game in a round can be played at once, so the whole event takes 11 time slots, about 5.5 hours with 30-minute games. With one court it is 66 games back to back, about 33 hours.
