How a 10 team round robin schedule works
Each of the 10 teams plays the other 9 once: 10 × 9 ÷ 2 = 45 games. They fit into 9 rounds of 5 games, with every team playing once per round.
The schedule uses the circle method: seed 1 stays in place and the other teams rotate one position each round. That pairs every team with every other team exactly once and never asks a team to play twice in a round.
With 5 courts or fields, every game in a round can be played at once, so the whole event takes 9 time slots, about 4.5 hours with 30-minute games. With one court it is 45 games back to back, about 22.5 hours.
