Football award ideas

Each award has a line for the certificate. “Use this award” puts it in the maker, where you can keep the line or rewrite it.

Offensive Player of the Year
For the player who made the most plays with the ball.
On the certificate: “for leading the offense all season”
Defensive Player of the Year
For the top tackler, or the player the defense was built around.
On the certificate: “for leading the defense all season”
Lineman of the Year
For an offensive or defensive lineman. Linemen rarely touch the ball, so this one matters to them.
On the certificate: “for winning the battle up front on every snap”
Special Teams Award
For the kicker, punter, returner or the player who made the most special teams tackles.
On the certificate: “for big plays in the kicking game”
Ball Hawk Award
For the player with the most interceptions and fumble recoveries.
On the certificate: “for forcing the most turnovers this season”
Touchdown Award
For the team’s leading scorer.
On the certificate: “for the most touchdowns this season”
Best Hands Award
For the most reliable receiver or tight end.
On the certificate: “for catching everything thrown your way”
Iron Player Award
For the player who never came off the field, or never missed a practice.
On the certificate: “for playing every down, every game”

Awards that suit every sport, from Most Valuable Player to Perfect Attendance, are in the maker’s list too; see the award ideas for any sport.

Giving out football awards

Football rosters are large, often 25 players or more, so many teams give awards by position group: offense, defense, the line and special teams. Then add effort awards (Iron Player, Most Improved, Coach’s Award) so every player gets a certificate.

To print a roster with different awards, paste the list with the award after each name: Chris Ortega, Lineman of the Year. Every line becomes its own page in the PDF.

Certificates for other sports

Running a football tournament? Make the bracket first: single elimination, double elimination or round robin. When the final result is in, the winner screen links to the certificate maker with the champion’s name filled in.

Questions

What awards can you give in football?

The football awards on this page: Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Lineman of the Year, Special Teams Award, Ball Hawk Award, Touchdown Award, Best Hands Award and Iron Player Award. Add the awards that suit any sport, such as Most Valuable Player, Most Improved Player, Sportsmanship Award and Coach’s Award, so every player gets one.

How do I give each football player a different award?

In the names box, put the award after the name, separated by a comma: “Jordan Lee, Offensive Player of the Year”. Each line becomes its own certificate, with that award and its line under the name. Download PDF puts every certificate in one file.

Can I print football certificates in our team colours?

Yes. Pick the team colour, and the border, the football emblem, the award title and the ribbon change to it. With a very pale colour the text stays dark so it is still readable.
